Our Story
To make exceptional tea accessible, sustainable, and honest.
We source whole-leaf teas from trusted growers around the world, package them responsibly, and bring them to cafés and homes everywhere. Every blend is crafted with care — from the mountains where it’s grown, to the mug in your hands.
A Note From
Our Founder
Born in Colorado.
Enjoyed Everywhere.
Enjoyed Everywhere.
A lot has changed since that first cup — except the way we make tea:
carefully, simply, and with a bit of mountain spirit.
Richard tastes loose-leaf tea in India and realizes how different “real tea” can be. Two Leaves & a Bud is born in Basalt, Colorado.
Early blends launch in local cafés; Richard personally packs and delivers orders around the Roaring Fork Valley.
Two Leaves becomes one of the first U.S. tea companies to use fully compostable pyramid sachets. Sustainability becomes part of the brand DNA.
Two Leaves makes its first appearance on local shelves, sharing café-quality tea with the community that shaped us.
Two Leaves partners with National Outdoor Leadership School, where our founder Richard still moonlights as an instructor, and creates a steady stream of donations through sales of our Alpine Berry tea.
The Details That Shape Every Cup
People and Planet Over Profit and Plastics
From Farm to Kettle
Our teas start in the hands of skilled growers who know their land and their leaves. We build lasting relationships, visit when we can, and work to ensure the people who cultivate our tea are treated fairly and with care.
We’ve Got Good Taste
Based in Basalt, Colorado, our small team guides how our teas are made and shared with intention and care.
We’re In Good Company
From neighborhood cafés to national partners, we work with people who take flavor and consistency seriously. Together, we bring thoughtfully made tea to more tables, one cup at a time.
